What Is So Rich as a Weekend of Irish Music in St. Paul!

If you’re going to enjoy an Irish Weekend, it might as well be a long one!  The Minnesota Irish MusicF Weekend is set for Thursday, June 14 through Sunday, June 17.  Formerly known as the Young Irish Musicians this year’s gathering is at the Celtic Junction/ Center for Irish Music, 836 North Prior in St.. Paul.

The festival includes a Saturday evening public concert and weekend workshops in flute, fiddle, Irish harp, piano and uillcann piles for youth and adult accompanied by a bevy of lectures on Irish music.

Highlights include

ü  Family Ceili Dance, Friday at 7:00 p.m.

ü  Concert Saturday at 8:00 p.m. described as “a night of authentic and virtuosic traditional music.”

ü  Half and full day programs for children ages 7-11

ü  Workshops and lectures geared to adults and taught by visiting artists Those artists include “world class” traditional musicians: Harry Bradley (flute, uillcann, pipes), Felix Dolan (piano), Jesse Smith (fiddle), Devin Shepherd (fiddle), and Eileen Gannon, harp.
