Census Maps Where Americans Call Home

Do you ever want to just flee the city – the crowds, the noise, the traffic, rules and regs, the neighbors?  You might want to check out the 2010 Population Distribution in the United States and Puerto Rico map.  This map, aka the “Nighttime Map” (you’ll see why) portrays the distribution of population in the US and Puerto Rico.  The dot distribution map is currently available in a large format (28×24) with each white dot representing 1,000 people.  A page-size version on which each white dot represents 7500 people, is coming soon.

Bottom line – there are some wide open spaces – you might want to match the population map with some other cartographic resources to avoid mountain peaks, deserts, bodies of water or other factors that might explain why no one lives there….
